Many thanks for sharing our bilingual reading of Ferdinand Schirach’s „The Silent Friend“. We enjoyed the discussion of different levels of empathy and appreciation for Schirach’s stories in general y and the question of whether The Silent Friend it showed any similarity to Kleist’s anecdotes in its logic and masterly  set up.  

Aside from this enlightening experience we enjoyed  the lively discussions of whether we could – or why we could not! – relate to a personal „silent friend“ ourselves. 

We look forward to our next Get Together on November 19, same place, same time, same author (?)
